I have always loved drawing and painting since I was a young child. I was once told that "if you can draw people you can draw anything". With this in mind I decided this was something I should endeavour to master. I started figure and portrait painting at school and later specialised in figure and portrait painting in my final year at the University of Brighton.
I worked as a Children's Book Designer for Usborne Publishing in London for over 8 years and now I work freelance from home as a designer and illustrator.
When my daughter was born I started a book of drawings of her, the first one when she was just 3 weeks old. She is now 4 years old and I am on my third book of drawings. I am so glad I have recorded her in this way, there is something subtle and unique about a drawing that a photograph cannot capture. I have also managed to please grandparents and other relatives with gifts and cards using the drawings over the years.
Many people have asked if I would draw their children and I thought, why not? So I came up with the idea of Babysketches and here I am.
